Thank you, I love hearing that Enedina caught your heart! She was a very special person.

Thanks, too, for the re-stack 😊

What a beautiful soul! And how lucky you were to meet her. My mother is an artist (just turned 90 yesterday) and she's definitely a mujer grande. When we were kids, we lived in a house in Connecticut and she set aside a wall for us to make handprints. All our friends joined in. Anyone who visited was welcome to make a handprint on the wall. We pressed our hands into paint (our choice of color) and made the handprints ourselves right onto the wall. I assume whoever bought the house from us painted right over that, but I know all our handprints are still there underneath!

What a great story, thanks for sharing, Karen! I love that you have a special handprints story of your own!

What a great story, Kristin. Living in Mexico, this is our experience with so many families here who welcome and embrace us gringos with genuine love and acceptance. Are you doing a documentary film and if so, what are some of the other episodes, either in the can or planned? A friend of mine just completed a 3 year journey "Wisdom Road" where he interviewed a whole slew of marginalized individuals and famlies. I imagine his book will be coming out later this year. BTW, I love the art and wondering where it might be available or did I miss that? Thanks for sharing this. I find it especially poignant and love the way you tell the story too.

How nice you had similar experiences, Gary. I always think if people would just ignore the politicians and get to know one another individually, many of our problems would be solved.

Thanks for the kind words 😊

It's hard to ignore the politicians. many of whom are not there to serve the public, only themselves and their personal agendas. We have choices! I am currently looking at why the U.S. dropped from 16th to 23rd in the Gross Happiness Index, a better indicator of the overall health of a country than the GDP, IMNSHO.

Oh jeez, I didn't know she died, when, in 2022? Now I'm on a search to find one or more of her pieces. Thanks, again.

Hi Gary, thanks for reading!

We shot this film back in the 90s, but there is a trailer and more information @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0jyFgBNZPU

And yes, as I was researching this Story Frame, I was sad to see Enedina died a few years ago. You may still be able to find her art, however, especially in San Antonio.

While we hear an abundance of negatives about Spanish-speaking immigrants coming to the U.S. - especially from Trump, your message paints a glowing, colorful, and gleefully different portrait of a God-filled and happy way of life. It brought back memories of my many years in Russia where I experienced a depth of humanity not experienced in the United States. I hope you always cherish this brief time with her.

She sounds so special. Even the words that describe her take on a life of their own in York description. There are some people pole who come into our lives that open up spaces we didn’t know existed before we met them. And in the beauty of their expression, we truly feel the presence of the Divine.

You wouldn’t have ever had this digitized would you? I went to Amazon to buy the DVD, but only found VHS tapes. (Showing my age here.) 🙂

Thanks for your thoughts, Ellie 🙂 It was indeed a special afternoon.

When you ask about getting a DVD, are you referring to the documentary we were shooting in this story? There is a trailer you can watch online with a link to perhaps get the full film @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0jyFgBNZPU
