We should all have "fixers" in our lives. They would be so much less complicated. Loved your story and one of the things that comes through so clearly is your presence where you are and how you describe that. Loved this story of your storyboard life. You do it so well, it's almost like being along to see, hear and experience what you're doing. Thanks for sharing.

Fixers in all of our lives?! What a fantastic idea!

And why don't we have them? I'd love to have a fixer here in Portugal.

As always, thank you so much for reading, Gary, and sharing your lovely, positive feedback.

Next up, London!

Maybe training someone we know is a possibility, maybe not. Could be an interesting job. And sometimes we have to become the “fixer.”

I'm thinking how useful it would be to have a local fixer when one's learning to live in a new culture – like me, here in Portugal!

My hunch is you can find one - a 20 something year old who knows the ins and outs, resources and how to get stuff done.

I'd actually prefer someone much older, someone who knows how the healthcare, taxes, vehicles, residencies, visa, etc systems work in this country. A 20-something won't have enough experience.

Right! Nothing compares to deep and broad experience. I was thinking of the street-wise, eager and energetic kid who knows his/her way around and is able to cut through all the crap. We hired an older woman/attorney to help us with residency paperwork and documents, also for car permits. Worth the investment. She has a full time business working with ex-pats.

Those Basilica Cisterns are a marvel. Turkey has such a complex and interesting historical past. Like all the other Story Frames, enjoyed this very much Kristin. - Jim
